These days I’m planning a radical overhaul of my online identity: this blog must become more adaptable and flexible, I have to adjust my Twitter [ed. 3/12: did it, you can enjoy the new one] and LinkedIn profiles, I’m going to turn on something useful as a starting point, for example, an about.me [ed. 3/12: did it! see it here] profile, and to make my content (“your content” as Keith Ferrazzi calls it in his great book “Never Eat Alone” that I’ve recently read) visible also on slideshare as soon as possible [ed. 3/12: did it! my slideshare channel is available here. I’ve uploaded an important presentation that I used in several workshop that has more that 2K hits, some new content will arrive soon] .

The key point here though, is that I came to the need to reorganize what talks about me online (and with me actually) just because the whole thing has become increasingly more important in time: it all started in December 2008, when this blog was born.

I remember that creating this blog was, at that time, a real need: I had too many things to say and no place to share. The first post was a real outburst of considerations and the first comment was a real thrill: I remember how wondering was to realize that I was able to communicate and connect with people all over the world and sharing arguments, reflections and perspectives.

The need to increase the visibility of the “My Content” pushed me to discover Twitter, a tool which I have already praised, and social media in general which further changed the way I confront miself with the online world.

I can not easily quantify how the blog has been critical to my growth: of course it’s hard to list all the opportunities that derived from this and the credibility that these 43 posts [ed 3/12: no more than 60] gave me and continue to give me these days (although this should perhaps be asked in particular to you, readers – oh, I love this statement – more than to me directly).

The search for new content to publish prompted me to inquire, reason and deal with others, to invite them to confront with me, as with guest posts and interviews. Through the blog, I have met (or, in some cases, I’ve known more deeply) amazing people like Glyn Moody, more than a source of inspiration to me, Richard Stallman , which needs no introduction, Fabrizio Capobianco and his optimism, Matteo Penzo and the entire team of Frontiers, that mad genius of Kesiev, Roberto Galoppini and is terrific Open Source expertise, Francesco and the Estrogeni. Then Luke Williams and Alessandro Galetto that talked with me about design, Massimo Menichinelli and his great energy and vision, Carlo D’Acunto, Marco Massarotto and David Orban all with new interviews that will be coming to the blog soon [ed. 3/12: the list is longer now, it contains the great Carlo Daffara, the amazing Amber Case – recent SXSW keynoter! – Michel Bauwens that is really a continue inspiration to me and online friend, and Rick Falkving – International Pirate Party founder]

With this blog, my horizons have turned beyond technology, innovation and pragmatism, towards issues like Freedom, Design, socio-economic theories and Media. Thanks to this blog now I understand better where our society and our world are going these days.

No matter what your passions are, photography, music, design, sustainability, technology, traditions, economics or others: create a blog, open up to the world and embrace this form of communication, it will eventually let you to be yourself, just more completely.

Voglio celebrare il blog.

In questi giorni sto pianificando una radicale revisione della mia online identity: questo blog deve diventare qualcosa di più adattabile e elastico, devo rimettere mano ai profili Twitter e LinkedIn e ho intenzione di attivare qualcosa di utile come punto di partenza, per esempio un profilo about.me, e di rilasciare i miei contenuti (“your content” come lo chiama Keith Ferrazzi nel suo grande libro “Never Eat Alone“) su di me anche su slideshare.

Il punto fondamentale però è che sono giunto alla necessità di riorganizzare ciò che parla di me e con me online solo perché l’intera faccenda ha preso sempre maggiore importanza col tempo: tutto è nato in quel dicembre 2008, quando questo blog vide la luce.

Ricordo che, dare vita a questo blog, fu una vera esigenza: avevo troppe cose da dire e nessun posto per dirle. Il primo post fu un vero e proprio sfogo di considerazioni in cerca di ascolto e il primo commento fu una vera e propria emozione: ricordo lo stupore di poter comunicare e connettermi con persone di tutto il mondo condividendo argomenti, riflessioni, prospettive. L”esigenza di aumentare la visibilità dei “miei contenuti” mi spingse poi a scoprire Twitter e i social media, uno strumento del quale ho già tessuto le lodi, e che ha ulteriormente cambiato il modo con cui mi confronto con la rete.

Non riesco a quantificare facilmente quanto avere un blog sia stato fondamentale per la mia crescita: certo faccio fatica a elencare tutte le opportunità che da questo sono derivate e la credibilità che questi 43 post mi hanno dato e continuano a darmi (anche se questo forse dovrebbe essere chiesto in particolare a voi, i miei lettori – adoro questa frase – più che a me)

La ricerca di nuovi contenuti mi ha spinto a informarmi, ragionare e confrontarmi con gli altri, a invitarli con me a fare riflessioni, come è stato coi guest posts e le interviste. Per mezzo e grazie al blog ho conosciuto, in alcuni casi approfondito un rapporto, con persone straordinarie come Glyn Moody, che per me è più che un’ispirazione, Richard Stallman , che non ha bisogno di introduzioni, Fabrizio Capobianco e il suo ottimismo, Matteo Penzo e il team di Frontiers, quel genio pazzo di Kesiev, Roberto Galoppini e il sua enorme  conoscenza del mondo dell’ Open Source, Francesco e gli Estrogeni. E poi Luke Williams e Alessandro Galetto che hanno parlato con me di design, Massimo Menichinelli e la sua energia e vision, Carlo D’Acunto, Marco Massarotto e David Orban – tutti con un intervista pubblicata o a breve in arrivo sul blog (stay tuned!).

Grazie a questo blog, i miei orrizzonti si sono spinti oltre la tecnologia, l’innovazione e il pragratismo, verso i temi della libertà, del design, della socio-economia. Grazie a questo blog ho capito meglio dove và la nostra società e il nostro mondo.

Non importa che le vostre passioni siano, la fotografia, la musica, il design, la sostenibilità, la tecnologia, il costume, l’economia o altro: create un blog, apritevi al mondo, abbracciate questa forma di comunicazione con gli altri che vi permetterà di essere finalmente e completamente voi stessi.
