It’s a few days that I don’t show up on the blog (more than a month, actually). During last weeks – the days of WikiLeaks and cablegate – it was impossible for me not to come back to address and deal with Internet Freedom and, therefore, I was a bit distracted.

It’s quite an important moment for Freedom on the Internet: today the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) is deciding whether to introduce elements of legislation to regulate access networks in the United States and the Obama administration is risking a lot: there is much criticism (just have a look to twitter) about this issue.

During this period of explosive network growth, users too often underestimate the compression of their Freedom in a totally unconscious way. For this reason, in its small way, this blog will begin to deal with these topics to disseminate awareness into users (readers).

In the coming days I will start by publishing an interview entirely devoted to these topics but, in 2011, my goal is to create a specific information project to investigate the illiberal aspects of the digital society, the dangers to privacy and security of users and in some sense, to come back bringing the user at the heart of a sustainable network development (to be sustained).

I have the strong conviction that protecting users rights is not only a goal of a sustainable growth of the Internet but is the principal mean by which the network can grow in a sustainable manner.

Il suono del silenzio.

É da qualche giorno che non mi faccio vedere sul blog (più di un mese in verità). In questi ultimi giorni, i giorni di WikiLeaks e del cablegate, è stato impossibile non tornare a interessarsi e occuparsi di Libertà in rete e sono stato un po’ distratto.

E’ un momento molto importante per la Libertà in rete: oggi l’FCC USA sta decidendo se introdurre o meno elementi legislativi a regolamentare l’accesso alla rete negli Stati Uniti e l’amministrazione Obama sta rischiando molto, sono numerose (basta cercare un po’ su twitter) le critiche che sta ricevendo su questo tema.

In questa fase di sviluppo esplosivo della rete troppo spesso gli utenti sottovalutano la compressione delle loro Libertà in rete in maniera totalmente inconsapevole e per questo, nel suo piccolo, questo blog inizierà ad occuparsene per disseminare negli utenti una maggiore consapevolezza.

Nei prossimi giorni comincerò pubblicando un intervista interamente dedicata a questi temi: nel 2011 invece è mio obiettivo dare vita a un progetto specifico di informazione che indaghi sulle sfaccettature illiberali della società digitale, sui pericoli per la privacy e per la sicurezza degli utenti, che vada oltre, in un certo senso, riportando l’utente al centro dello sviluppo sostenibile (e da sostenere) della rete.

Ho la forte convinzione che la Libertà di espressione e la tutela dei diritti degli utenti non sia solo un obiettivo della crescita sostenibile della rete ma sia il principale mezzo mediante il quale la rete può crescere in maniera sostenibile.
